The interior and exterior designs of domestic cars developed by Türkiye’nin Otomobili Girişim Grubu (Turkey's Automobile Initiative Group, TOGG) were registered by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Turkey's car, which is going to be manufactured as an electric car, had recently applied to EUIPO to register its design rights. After reviewing this request, EUIPO announced that the design had been registered.
Applications were also made in Asia and the Americas for registration of TOGG's design rights. These applications are expected to be concluded in 2020. The design of the domestic car, which is the outcome of 150 hours of work of design and engineering teams working for TOGG, has been selected among the products of many different design houses.
Initially working with 18 design houses, and later carrying on with 3 design houses, TOGG agreed to share the design manuals with these 3 design houses and organized a 2 dimensional design competition. More than 100 projects have been evaluated in the design competition which continued for 6 months. In the wake of this endeavor, the domestic cars, which have been promoted and gained widespread appreciation, made their appearance. Deciding on a design by Pininfarina, the TOGG team took another step forward for the project with the design registration by the European Union.
