A new type of metal that will make our daily lives easier has been discovered.
The new metal, produced by the research at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of California (UCLA) in the USA, contains nanoparticles of magnesium and ceramic silicon.
In order to obtain this metal with a very ideal strength-to-weight ratio, researchers have come up with a new way to balance nanoparticles in molten metals by dispersing them.
The metal obtained by this new method is made up of 14 percent silicon carbide nanoparticles and 86 percent magnesium.
Scientists participating in the study also point out that magnesium is an abundant resource and the damage to the environment is low.

This new metal is of great importance for the automobile industry, making lighter aircraft, producing spacecraft, reducing fuel consumption, and making mobile devices and biomedical devices light and durable.
