We should find alternative solutions for natural resources until 2030

We come to understand that the future will be the way different from the past as people feel the severe impact brought by the COVID-19 pandemic all over the world. Depletion of natural resources lead companies and individual designers to have huge investments to reach new and improved environmentally friendly designs around the globe.

According to the report published by the World Intellectual Property Rights Organization (WIPO) (Preserving its sector's leading agent position in the field of intellectual and Intellectual Property Rights in Turkey since the day it was founded, Destek Patent is one of the members of this organization as well) as part of the World Intellectual Property Rights Day, there is a reasonable meaning of the challenges of today and upcoming future challenges. The world population never ceases to increase and given the situation, natural resources, and other opportunities seem no longer to be enough for the whole world. According to the report, Intellectual Property Rights rights that support the innovation and innovative inventions have a critical role in the efforts of creating a green future with the belief that supports today's choices will shape the future. The slogan of the World Intellectual Property Rights Organization is "World is our home. We should protect it"

We should find alternative solutions to natural resources by 2030

With the increasing global population, the demand for food is estimated to increase by 35% by 2030. The global impact of the COVID-19 crisis on supply chains made several countries vulnerable to disruptions. Besides, the global renewable energy supply is around 15%. According to the Global Innovation Index in 2018 of the International Energy Agency (IEA), it is estimated that the demand for energy on a global scale will increase by 30% by 2040. It is possible to support economic growth by simply developing renewable products and Intellectual Property Rights which promote them, developing clean energy systems to meet the demand for energy, and reducing greenhouse emissions.

According to research on international patent applications around the globe in 2019 as a result of the green innovation, 76% of overall green patent applications were made by Japan, China, the USA, Germany, and Korean Republic. Recently, China has been the leading country in green patent applications particularly made in transportation technologies. Even though there are dramatic decreases in green technology around the world, according to the Green Innovation data of the International Patent Classification (IPC), there was an increase by 14% in transportation sector. This increase was caused by the innovations carried out in the preferred use of railway transportation, electric and hybrid vehicles.

"We should make environmental sustainability a priority"

Kemal Yamankaradeniz, the Chief Executive Officer of Destek Patent spoke as follows: "The global renewable energy supply is now around 15%. As indicated in the 2018 - Global Innovation Index, innovative energy resources should dominate the world by 2050, and 85% of the world's primary energy must come from renewable resources such as solar, wind, and geothermal energy. To achieve this goal, we should comprehensively think about how we produce, store, distribute, and consume energy resources, and we should make policies that support the fast development and distribution of renewable energy technologies that make all the sectors greener and more eco-friendly. However, we should take action to achieve this goal. We should make environmental sustainability a priority because this means a benchmark for our welfare in the future. We should be able to access the effective intellectual property systems that support the development and distribution of the technologies, products, and services required for us to reach a brighter, greener, and more carbon-free future and to invest in national innovation ecosystems.

"We should be able to access the effective intellectual property systems for a greener future"

The global crisis and impact of the pandemic have dramatically proven that nature was extremely neglected. That is why, we should take action very quickly, and make environmental sustainability a priority, and invest in national innovation ecosystems to be able to access the effective intellectual property systems that support the development and distribution of the technologies, products, and services required for us to reach a brighter, greener, and more carbon-free future. Innovative product and packaging designs have a key role in reduction of carbon emissions and address the climate emergency matters. Many companies and individual designers from a wide range of countries have already invested in the efforts for the creation of new and improved environmentally friendly designs. These are reusable and recyclable or recycled materials that have been turned into commercial products to be able to provide more efficient services. We are following the new generation technological news and developments and we hope we'll see more of them in the near future."
