Turkey has Founded its Own Drug against the Virus

The domestic synthesis of the medicine called Favipiravir developed by scientists under the roof of the TUBITAK COVID-19 Turkey Platform released to the public. Istanbul Medipol University, Faculty Member, Associate. Dr. Mustafa Guzel and his team along with Atabay Chemistry company synthesized a Turkish medicine and get it to the licensing stage, and the sample of this synthesized medicine was submitted to Mustafa Varank, who is the Minister of Industry and Technology. The medicine used for the COVID-19 treatment was produced in short notice (40 days) in the coordination of Associate Dr. Mustafa Guzel and Zeynep Atabay Taskent along with the cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the Ministry of Health, TUBITAK, Istanbul Medipol University, and Atabay Medicine (Chemistry). About the medicine called Favipiravir, Minister Varank said, "We have produced a very important medicine developed locally and nationally with its own synthesis. And we know that it is at the licensing stage now, and we are so happy and proud about that." The medicine, which is a local synthesis, is intended to be used in the treatment and exported to other countries as well after the licensing process is complete.
