People are Encouraged to Support the Patent Based Transfer of Technology

To ensure that patented technologies developed in universities, research institutions, and technology development areas are transferred to the industry, a call was made within the scope of Innovation Support Program.

In the Patent-Based Transfer of Technology Support Call, universities, research bases, the companies of technology development areas, and transfer of technology offices are described as Technology Provider Organization. Customer Organization is described as a Turkey-based capital company that aims to acquire the technologies of the Technology Provider Company that are protected with national or international patents via licensing or takeover methods and to make them become profitable. With the call, the joint applications of the Customer Organization and Technology Provider Company will be approved.

In the Patent Licensing – 2020 – 1 call, if the Customer Organization makes some expenditures and spendings on the services of the Technology Provider Organization for the acquisition in the way of licensing and handover of the technologies protected by a patent or patents of which the Technology Provider Organization is the right holder and implementation of these technologies, these spendings and expenditures will indeed be supported and reimbursed.

The projects will only be supported for 60 months in the Patent Licensing – 2020 – 1 call. The limit superior of the amount of support is 60% for the large-scale Customer Organizations whereas it is 75% for the Customer Organizations which are on an SME-scale. Support amount that is going to be applied to the handover or licensing of patents will be calculated according to the following:

• The basic support rate is 25%.
• If the Customer Organization is an SME, there will be a 15% addition to the amount of support.
• If the Customer Organization operates in the sector of advanced technology that is in the Call Announcement, or if the licensed patent contains one of the advanced technology IPC classes, there will be a 15% of addition to support amounts.
• There will be a 10% addition to the patents registered before EPO, JPO, KIPO, CNIPA or USPTO.
• There will be a 10% addition to support if the Customer Organization licenses or hand over at least two patents of the Technology Provider Organization.
• There will be a 75% of addition to SME-scale for the Customer Organizations and 60% of addition to the Customer Organizations in the expenditures made by the Technology Provider Organization to theCustomer Organization for the services in terms of training and consultancy activities. The total of the training and consultancy services cannot exceed the 25% of the support that is in the scope of the supports.

*:To apply for the project, you should submit your registration files to the TUBITAK, and get a pre-registration approval. The date indicated here refers to the due date for the submissions of these files to the TUBITAK. Those who did not complete the submission of their pre-registration files to the TUBITAK will not be able to make a project application.**It refers to the due date on which the organization with a pre-registration approval will send their suggestions on PRODIS.
