Eurasian Industrial Design Applications Rose by 52% in 2024!

The EAPO received 562 Eurasian applications for industrial designs in 2024. This is 52% more than in 2023. The most popular classes of the International Classification of Industrial Designs: packaging, containers and tare boxes used for the transportation or storage of goods; vehicles and lifting devices; clothing, haberdashery; furniture. In 2024, 402 Eurasian patents were issued for 961 industrial designs. This is 28.4% more than in the previous year. In total, 870 patents for 2076 industrial designs were issued in 2021-2024. In 2024, patents were received by applicants from 17 countries. For the first time - from the Netherlands, the UAE and the Republic of Korea. Since January 4, 2025, the Eurasian patent for industrial design covers all 8 countries.

Turkmenistan has acceded to the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention. EAPO President Grigory Ivliev noted that the confident dynamics of filing Eurasian applications for registration of industrial designs shows how much the regional protection system is in demand by businesses.
