''The International Symposium on Geographical Signs'' Has Ended

"International Geographical Indication Symposium" that was organized by Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TURKPATENT), Georgia National Intellectual Property Rights Center (SAKPATENTI) and World Intellectual Property Rights Organization (WIPO), has been completed.

On the second day of the symposium which was held in Trabzon, during the session titled "Economic Dimensions of Geographical Indications", local and foreign experts discussed the socio-economic impact of geographical indication protection and the geographical indications as commercial value.

The symposium aimed at increasing the recognition of the concept of geographical indication by producers and consumers in Turkey, contributing to the works necessary for effective protection of geographical indications, increasing the number and quality of registered geographical indications, and through the exhibition organized in this respect, promoting our country's products with geographical indications.

During the symposium, participants from Georgia as well as France, Chile, Russia, Azerbaijan, Romania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Iran, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Ukraine, made presentations. The symposium ended with questions and answers and a general assessment.
