Turkey Re-entered The Top 50 Leagues With A 10-digit Leap In The Global Innovation Index

The annual performance of 132 economies was evaluated in the 14th edition of the Global Innovation Index report. According to the report, Turkey had the 4th highest innovation performance in the “Upper-Middle Income Economies” category. Turkey, which ranked 4th after China, Bulgaria and Malaysia in this category, ranked 41st among 132 countries in the GII, the country's highest ranking to date.

Among the countries of the middle-upper income group, Turkey performed above the group averages in six of the seven main components. The area in which Turkey performed the best was “Human Capital and Research”. Turkey ranked 26th in this component and China ranked 35th in the” Creative Outputs" component. This year, Turkey has performed better in terms of innovation outputs compared to innovation inputs. The report also emphasized that both Istanbul and Ankara are home to two leading science and technology clusters. It was noted that Istanbul ranked 49th among the best science and technology clusters in the world, rising two places in the rankings.
